No word what caused a two-alarm fire that damaged four businesses in Richmond. The fire started around 11 a.m. Sunday morning in the 800 block of West Broad Street.
That portion of Broad Street was closed for hours as firefighters worked to get the fire under control.
The recent heat wave made fighting the blaze a challenge. Richmond Fire Department Lt. Mike Oprandy says, “We’ve been in a heat wave for the past couple of weeks, and we’ve had a couple of multiple alarm fires. So we are well rehearsed in rehab and getting the misting fans and water in place so our guys can rest and get re-hydrated. “
